Glazed Apple Bread Recipe

For a great combination of baking apple; use Granny Smith, Braeburn, Jonagold, Empire, Regent, Spartan, Newtown apples or a mixture of your favorite apples together.

Pan size: 9 x 5 inch bread
Temp: 350°F degrees
Baking time: 50 to 60 minutes
Servings: Makes 1 loaf

Glazed Apple Bread Baking Directions

1/2 cup shortening
1 cup brown sugar - packed
2 teaspoons baking powder
2 baking apples
1/3 cup chopped walnuts
1/4 teaspoon salt - optional
1tablespoon vanilla
2 cup sifted flour
2 eggs
2 tablespoon milk

Glaze Topping:

2 tablespoons butter
1/2 cup sifted powdered sugar
2 tablespoons milk

Pre heat the oven. Wash apples, core, peel and cut apples into small chunks, set aside. Gradually beat sugar into shortening. Add 1 egg at a time, mixing them in well. Add vanilla and milk.

Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Add apple and walnuts and add to first mixture; gently stir. Don't over mix.

Pour into apple bread into greased loaf pan and bake for the allotted time. Remove load from bread pan onto a baking rack. Let cool completely before adding glaze.

Mix glaze ingredients then drizzle over the top of apple bread loaf.
