Heart Healthy Apple Oat Bread Recipe

For a great combination of baking apple; use Granny Smith, Braeburn, Jonagold, Empire, Regent, Spartan, Newtown apples or a mixture of your favorite apples together.

Bread pan size: 8 x 4 inch loaf pan
Temp: 350°F degrees
Bread baking time: 60 minutes
Servings: 1 apple oat bread loaf

Heart Healthy Apple Oat Bread Baking Directions

1 1/2 cup quick cooking oats, uncooked
1 1/2 cup all purpose white flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
3/4 teaspoons ground allspice
2/3 cup honey
1/2 cup low fat milk
1/4 cup olive or canola oil
3 egg whites
3 medium green tart apples

Preheat the oven. Spray 8 x 4 inch bread loaf pan with vegetable cooking spray. Wash and core apples, cut into small chunks and set aside.

In large bowl mix oats, white flour, baking soda, and spices. In small bowl beat honey, milk, oil and egg whites until blended; stir into flour mixture just until moistened, batter will be lumpy.

Fold in apples. Spoon bread batter evenly into loaf pan. Bake for allotted time or until a toothpick inserted in center of bread comes out clean. Cool in pan 8 minutes. Remove apple oat bread to wire rack.
