Crunchy Caramel Apple Pecan Pie Recipe

Baking Directions

For a great combination of baking apple; use Granny Smith apples with Braeburn apples, or Northern Spies apples with Newtown apples or all apples together.

Pan size: 9 inch round baking dish
Temp: 375°F degrees
Baking time: 45 minutes
Servings: 8

Crunchy Caramel Apple Pecan Pie Recipe

2 pastry shells, 9 inch
5 Granny Smith apples peeled and cored, thinly sliced
1 cup pecans chopped
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 pound caramels, coarse chopped
2 tablespoon flour
1/4 cup milk
milk for the top of the crust
raw sugar to sprinkle on the top crust

1. Preheat oven to. Divide the pie crust dough in half. Roll out first half of pastry and lay in a 9 - inch pie pan.

2. In a large bowl, toss together apples, pecans, sugar, caramels, flour and milk. Spoon apple mixture into pie shell.

3. Top with the remaining rolled out pastry. Fold the edge of the top pastry under the bottom pastry. Pinch together and flute the edge all around with a fork. Cut 6 slits in the top pie crust so the steam can escape during baking. Brush the top with milk and sprinkle with sugar.

4. Bake allotted time or until crust is golden brown. Pie is best served slightly warm with vanilla ice cream.
