Caramel Apple Crisp Recipe

Directions

For a great combination of baking apple; use Granny Smith, Braeburn, Jonagold, Empire, Regent, Spartan, Newtown apples or a mixture of your favorite apples together.

Pan size: 1-1/2-quart baking dish
Temp: 350°F degrees
Baking time: 30 to 35 minutes
Servings: 8

For added color and texture, leave the peels on the apples.

4 large Granny Smith apples, thinly sliced (about 8 cups)
25 Caramels or 1/2 of 14 - ounce bag
2 tablespoons milk
25 NILLA Wafers, crushed (about 1 cup of crumbs)
1/3 cup quick-cooking oats
1/4 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
1/4 cup (1/2 stick) cold margarine or butter, cut up into peices

Preheat the oven to 350°F. Place half of the apple slices in a 1-1/2 quart baking dish; top with half of the caramels. Repeat apple - caramel layers. Pour milk over apple - caramel layer; set aside.

Mix wafer crumbs, oats and sugar in medium bowl. Cut in margarine with pastry blender or 2 knives until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Sprinkle evenly over apple - carmel layer.

Bake 30 to 35 min. or until apples are tender. Serve warm.

Apple Preparation Tips;
Because apples turn brown after they are cut, do not cut them up until just before using.
