Apple Cherry Pie Recipe

Pan size: 9 inch pie plate |
pastry recipe for a 9 inch double pie crust
4 tablespoons quick-cooking tapioca
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 cup sugar or 1 cup splenda
1 large apple peeled, cored and cut into small cubes
4 cups pitted tart red cherries
1 teaspoon almond extract
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
red food coloring
1 1/2 tablespoons butterPreheat your oven. Place bottom crust in the pie ptate. Roll out top crust, set the top crust aside, covered.
In a large mixing bowl combine tapioca, salt, sugar, apple cubes, tart red cherries, food coloring and extracts. Let stand 10 minutes. Pour cherry apple mixture into bottom crust and dot with butter. Place Apple Cherry pie on a cookie sheet, Bake pie for 50 minutes or until crust is golden brown. Let cool before cutting, Serve with whipped topping.
