Ham with Cranberry Apple Salsa Recipe

Pan size: shallow roasting pan
Temp: 275°F degrees
Ham baking time: approximately 2 hours,
follow ham package baking chart per pound.
Ham servings: 10 to 12

A good cook knows any holiday meal begins with baked ham a cranberries apple salsa.

1 spiral, sliced hickory smoked ham with glaze package
4 medium apples
3 tablespoons lemon juice
2/3 cups butter
1 cup chopped walnuts
1 cup fresh cranberries
2/3 cup apple juice

Ham baking directions

Preheat the oven. Remove all packaging from the ham, including the clear plastic button on the bottom of the ham bone. Line roasting pan with parchment paper, place the ham flat, facing down, in the roasting pan. Cover ham with parchment paper, then cover ham with tightly with foil.

Bake for approximately 2 hours or until heated through. Do not over cook the ham or it will become dry. Remove baked ham from the oven and let the baked ham stand for 10 minutes, covered before serving.

Meanwhile, prepare the cranberry and apple salsa.Wash, core, then cut apples into small chunks. Toss apples with lemon juice to keep apples from browning.

Melt butter in a large skillet over medium high heat. Add chopped walnuts and cook a few minutes until walnuts smell toasted. Stir in apples, cranberries, apple juice and glaze package. Stir well to dissolve the glaze mix. Bring cranberry and apple salsa to a boil, remove salsa from the heat.

To Serve; pour cranberry and apple salsa into a serving dish, spoon over baked ham slices warm.
