Apple Glazed Meatloaf Recipe

Directions

For a great combination of baking apple; use Granny Smith, Braeburn, Jonagold, Empire, Regent, Spartan, Newtown apples or a mixture of your favorite apples together.

Pan size: 1 quart baking dish
Temp: 350°F degrees
Baking time: 1 1/2 hours
Servings: 6 to 8



Applesauce, along with chopped onion, adds flavor and moistness to an easy meatloaf recipe that is glazed with a mustard glaze.


1 medium onion, finely chopped
1 cup cracker crumbs
1 cup applesauce
1 egg, beaten
1/2 tablespoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 1/2 pounds ground beef
1 1/2 pounds ground pork

Apple Mustard Sauce

1 cup applesauce
2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
1 tablespoon dijon mustard
2 tablespoons brown sugar

Preheat oven. Cook chopped onion in microwave for 2-3 minutes until tender. In a large bowl combine onion with cracker crumbs, 1 cup applesauce, egg, salt and pepper and mix. Add in beef and pork, using your hands, mix together until well combined.

Shape meatloaf mixture into loaf and place in a 1 quart baking dish. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 1/2 hours or until done.

Meanwhile, make Apple Glaze. Combine applesauce, apple cider vinegar, dijon mustard and brown sugar in small saucepan. Heat Apple Glaze on medium stirring until hot and well blended.

After the meatloaf has been in the oven for 45 minutes, spoon some of the apple glaze over and continue baking. Baste with the glaze every 10 to 15 minutes until meatloaf is done. Let Apple Glazed Meatloaf sit for 8 minutes before serving.
