Apple, Pecan and Gorgonzola Salad

Baking Directions

For a great combination of baking apple; use Granny Smith, Braeburn, Jonagold, Empire, Regent, Spartan, Newtown apples or a mixture of your favorite apples together.

Pan size: four salad plates
Temp: 350°F degrees
Pecan baking time: 7 to 9 minutes
Servings: 4

Serve this Apple, Pecan and Gorgonzola salad with cooked turkey, chicken or pork and your favorite steamed vegetable.

2 large Granny Smith apples, sliced
4 tablespoons toasted chopped pecans
2 tablespoons crumbled Gorgonzola cheese
1/2 cup Italian dressing mix, prepared with balsamic vinegar

Arrange apples on four salad plates.
Sprinkle with the toasted pecans and cheese.
Top with Italian dressing.

How to Toast Nuts
Toasting nuts adds crunch and intensifies their flavor.

To toast nuts in the oven, spread nuts in single layer in shallow baking pan. Bake at 350°F for 8 to 10 min. or until golden brown, stirring occasionally.

To toast nuts on the stovetop, place nuts in ungreased skillet. Cook on medium heat until golden brown, stirring frequently.

To toast nuts in the microwave, place up to 1 cup of nuts in a microwavable shallow dish. Microwave on HIGH until fragrant and crisp, stirring every 30 sec.
